What and why
Services like Spotify are excellent for discovering new music. But when you listen to a song and want to learn more about the artist of band you will have to leave Spotify and use Google or Wikipedia. Sure you may find an occasional bio, but have you ever seen a service that links to the webpage of the artist?
Strange thing, because the homepage of artists is the number one place where the artist is in full control and can share valuable information with the audience. It's the place where an artist can do business: sell music, tickets, merchandise, get bookings for gigs, you name it.
Spoticonnect attempts to change this. We can create a link from the song to the website of the artist. One click and you're there. Good for both the artist and the listener.
Beware!.Spoticonnect still is sort of a proof of concept. We have just started and we are far from linking to every artist home page, but we are constantly working on this.
Maybe you can lend us a hand? Try one of the options below. Should we bring you to the wrong site you can correct this once and for all by adding the correct URL to our database.
Option 1: SpotiDJ Songtweets
SpotiDJ displays recent tweets with a link to a song on Spotify. The link gets replaced by a Play button. Just click and Spotify will deliver the music. See the little home button? Click it and your browser opens the website of the artist.
Option 2: the Spoticonnect Bookmarklet
Click the bookmarklet and your browser opens the website of the artist you are currently listening to.
What do you need:
1. A Last.fm account
2. Spotify or any other app or website that scrobbles your music to Last.fm ( i.e. Grooveshark, Musicuo )

Right now SpotiDJ is the only site that is directly connected with our database,but we hope to add more sites and programs in the near future.
